Kebab shops and restaurants are more than just a staple of our night-time culture, they are a valuable network of small businesses worth over £2 billion annually to the economy that provide employment in local communities like my own. Alongside their suppliers, they make an important contribution to our food and drink industry.

The British Kebab Awards are a great way of championing these local businesses, especially as our high streets begin to recover financially from the Covid-19 pandemic. I congratulate all the nominees and their hard-working staff on being recognised at this year’s awards.
